Paul Gallaud was born in 1994. A trained designer and visual artist, he has built his career at the intersection of academic rigour and artisanal know-how — from the Institut Saint-Luc in Tournai through a master's degree in product design, to an apprenticeship with the Compagnons du Devoir.
His work draws on geometric abstraction, Op Art, and site-specific art to create pieces that challenge perception. Form, rhythm, structure — everything is conceived to generate movement, real or illusory, that takes hold of the viewer. His compositions follow precise, almost algorithmic logic, yet always leave room for the unexpected. The digital plays a central role, as both a design tool and a mode of thinking.
What sets his pieces apart is their ability to inhabit space. Neither quite paintings nor quite sculptures, they capture light, play with reflections, and transform as the viewer moves. The work is never quite the same from one moment to the next.
With his Osmose series, this intention finds its fullest expression. Reflective materials, bands, grids, carefully orchestrated gradients — each piece seems to breathe, to merge with its environment. The viewer is no longer standing before the work; they have become part of it.
