Lidia Vergnon

Française

Lidia Vergnon is a contemporary artist born in 1986, living and working in France. After ten years as an architect, she turned to abstract painting, driven by a desire to explore the invisible world and the inner dynamics that shape the human being.

In oil paint she found a medium equal to her ambitions. A living, unpredictable material, oil imposes its own rhythm — one of slowness. The drying time, far from being a constraint, becomes an invitation to fully inhabit the creative process, to let each layer breathe and assert itself before the next is applied. In a world that celebrates speed, Lidia Vergnon's work is a resolute ode to slowness.

Her canvases bear the trace of movement, like a memory of gesture. Every brushstroke, every shift of matter tells the story of the body and mind at the moment of creation. The abstraction she unfolds is neither cold nor disembodied — it is deeply organic. Even stripped of all figurative representation, her work retains a sensory connection to the living: one senses breath, growth, pulsation.

Her creative process, rooted in introspection, is both a meditation and a pursuit of light, nourished by an ongoing exploration of colour.
